Every year, there are a couple of major CS:GO tournaments held all over the world. Most of the community can agree that ESL One Cologne is one of the biggest and most hyped up tournaments ever. If you have ever watched a live stream of ESL One Cologne, you know what I’m talking about. Only the best of the best are allowed to compete outside of the group stages. The crowd is insane and attendance bigger every year. We are hoping that this year will be the most exciting one so far.

There are a total of 16 teams competing for a price of $300,000

  • MVP PK
  • Vitality
  • Astralis
  • BiG
  • ENCE
  • FaZe
  • MIBR
  • NRG
  • Natus Vincere
  • Ninjas in Pajamas
  • Renegades
  • fnatic
  • mousesports

The remaining 2 teams are yet to be decided.

If you have been following the professional CS:GO scene for a while, you’ll recognize some of the teams on this list. The all-time favorites and the teams that have been dominating the scene for the longest time are of course Astralis, Ninjas in Pajamas, and fnatic. However, if I have learned something after all these years of watching professional CS:GO matches, is that you should never underestimate the underdogs.

Recently, ENCE has won a huge tournament out of nowhere, even with teams such as fnatic and Astralis competing against them. The sheer talent in ENCE was apparently enough to beat Astralis in the finals and secure the championship trophy for themselves. Some of the teams that are newer on this list are FURIA, Vitality, and MVP PK.

MIBR, however, has a roster from the old Luminosity. If you’ve followed the scene back in 2015 and 2016, you’d recognize some of the names like FalleN, fer, coldzera, TACO, and felps. These guys just suddenly came out of nowhere and won a major tournament in 2017, with coldzera receiving the MVP trophy for the best player in the tournament overall.

If you are one of those people who enjoy watching professional matches, no matter the game, I’m sure you will enjoy any major CS:Go tournament. In my opinion, it is one of the best gaming events of the year. And yes, I would even put it above DOTA 2 International and League of Legends Championship, just for the pure hype and excitement.
