G2 dismantle Team Liquid to win Mid-Season Invitational 2019
In the Grand Final of Mid-Season Invitational, G2 dismantled Team Liquid in the fastest Best-of-5 series in the history of LoL so far. Liquid couldn’t bear the big pressure they had on their shoulders because they were the first team from NA to reach the final of this event since 2016. After they unexpectedly defeated reigning world champions, Invictus Gaming, they seriously underperformed in the Grand Final.
Domination of G2 in Final
G2 played aggressively from the very beginning, which made Team Liquid feeling even more uncomfortable. Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski ganked the Bot Lane three times in the early stage of the game. That brought a big advantage to G2’s bot laners. Liquid couldn’t do anything against G2 squad in the first leg.
North American team started off the second leg in a slightly better fashion thanks to their Top Laner, Jung “Impact” Eon-yeong who played Kennen. However, Team Liquid allowed G2 to get back to the match. So, their Mid Laner, Rasmus “Caps” Vinder, showed his exceptional skills helping G2 to achieve an advantage in mid-game. As a result, G2 dismantled Team Liquid in the second leg after 28 minutes.
The American team had just one chance to come back into Grand Final, and they had to win all remaining legs. They already did something similar when they made a comeback after being 2-0 down in LCS final against TSM.
G2 dismantled Team Liquid in just 18 minutes
Regardless, Team Liquid again started in a bad way. G2 successfully invaded Liquid’s jungle and they kept playing aggressively against NA squad. Jungler from G2 continued pressuring Bot Lane, which resulted in absolute domination of “Perkz” and “Mikyx” on that side of the map.
How tough situation was, tells us the fact that G2 had 6,000 gold more than Team Liquid in the 12th minute of the game, which is an enormous advantage. The last fight of the match was initiated by “Wunder” when G2 took an Ace in opponent’s base. Quickly after that, G2 ended the shortest international Final in the history of LoL to clinch the title at Mid-Season Invitational 2019.
